Tandem

Tandem vs Lovewick: questions or a shared life?

Last updated July 26, 2026. Written by Neil Busque, the maker of Tandem.

TL;DR: Lovewick is a content library for couples: a card-based question game, a stack of date ideas, and a few relationship-admin tools like reminders and shared wishlists.

Tandem is not a library you browse together, it is a shared space you run: habits with streaks, love letters on a delay, synced movie nights, and real two-player games, built for long-distance from day one. If your relationship needs more things to talk about, Lovewick's cards do that job. If it needs more things to do, Tandem does.

The real difference: a deck of cards vs a place to live in

Lovewick's bet is that couples need better material to talk about and do together, so it builds a deep deck: a large library of question cards, hundreds of date ideas, reminders for things you'd otherwise forget, and a shared scrapbook to hold the memories after. You draw from it when you have a few minutes.

Tandem's bet is that couples need a shared operating system for the relationship itself: a habit you both keep every day, a letter that takes a few hours to arrive on purpose, a movie you press play on at the same instant from two different countries, a Scrabble game that just waits for whoever's turn it is. It runs in the background of the relationship instead of being something you open to browse.

Neither approach is wrong, and a couple doing long distance could reasonably want both: Lovewick's cards for date night material, Tandem for the habits and rituals that carry the relationship between date nights.

Price

Lovewick's core features, the discovery cards, date-idea library, reminders, and shared lists, are free with no subscription required. Lovewick also offers an optional premium subscription; the numbers on their own site were inconsistent when we checked, so we are not printing a figure here. Check lovewick.com directly for their current premium price.

Tandem's free tier covers habits, letters, movie nights, and games. An optional Pro plan adds six more two-player games, app themes, unlimited playlist and photo storage, letter attachments and scheduled delivery, and unlimited watch-room minutes.

Common questions

Which is better for long distance?

Tandem, because it handles timezones directly: five of its eight games (Scrabble, Chess, Connect 4, Checkers, Battleship) hold their position across any gap, and habits are evaluated in each partner's own timezone. Lovewick's questions work at any distance but assume you talk in real time.

Is Lovewick free?

Lovewick advertises a free relationship app built around its question library. Check their site for current limits, as of July 2026.
