A habit tracker for two, with real accountability
Most habit trackers are built for one person checking one box. Tandem's habit tracker is built for two: you and your partner each keep your own habits, see each other's streaks, and can turn any habit into a pact, an agreed consequence that kicks in when someone falls off. It is free, and it is the only piece of Tandem where the two of you can actually owe each other something.

How it works
Each of you adds habits under a shared list you both see: daily ones, a few days a week, or a weekly target like "read together three times this week." You check off your own habits from your own side, and your partner's progress and streak show up next to theirs, not hidden in a separate account. A habit missed does not quietly reset at midnight and disappear, it is visible to the other person, which is most of what makes a shared tracker different from a solo one.
Pacts: what makes this an accountability app, not just a tracker
A pact turns a habit into a promise with teeth. You agree on a threshold, say, three days missed in a row, and a consequence, cooking dinner, covering the next date, whatever you decide. If either of you crosses that threshold, the app flags it and the debt is owed. The important detail: only your partner can clear it, not the person who owes it. That single rule is what keeps a pact from being a box someone checks for themselves and moves on. On the free plan you can have one active pact; there is no cap on the free habits themselves.
Built for different timezones
If you and your partner live in different timezones, most habit trackers quietly break: a habit due "today" resets at midnight in whichever timezone the server happens to run on, so one of you loses a streak to a clock that was never yours. Tandem evaluates each partner's habits against their own day. Your habit resets at your midnight; your partner's resets at theirs. A twelve-hour gap between you does not cost either of you a streak you actually kept.
What's free, what's Pro
Habits themselves have no game or feature lock behind Pro, both partners can add and track as many as they want on the free plan. The one limit is pacts: one active pact free, unlimited on Pro. Pro also unlocks six more two-player games, app themes, unlimited playlist and photo storage, letter attachments and scheduled delivery, and unlimited watch-room minutes, none of which change how habits themselves work.
Start tracking together
Setup takes about five minutes: one of you creates a private space, the other joins with a six-character code or a link, and you're both adding habits from there. See the full guide to what Tandem does.
Common questions
Can we track different habits?
Yes. You each keep your own habits and can also share one, and you both see the other's progress and streaks.
What is a pact?
An agreed consequence. If either of you misses a habit a set number of days in a row, you owe what you agreed, like cooking dinner or paying for the date. Your partner clears it, not you.
Does it work across timezones?
Yes. Each person's habits are evaluated in their own timezone, so neither of you loses a streak to the date line.
